[Gift] Friend or Foe?

Amongst getting lost somewhere in the catacombs of a cave, Moss comes across a magical lake that she can never pass through. Confused, but willing to continue without worry, she soon meets a creature of this magical lake's depths. Here she would be stopped by the Starlyng known as 'Kelpie', a troubled being that sadly cannot control its urge to drag those who cross the magical lake inside the murky waters. Surfacing the dark water, Kelpie warns Moss to leave before she gets hurt, hoping to save Moss from the fates of the others.

"Please leave before you get very hurt..." Comes their soft, weary voice. Kelpie has an aura of dread about them, looking horrified at the appearance of Moss. "You shouldn't be here, either. Please turn back..."

Moss finds no fear, but curiosity as she stares down at her fellow Starlyng. With interest, Moss dips her head down, looking at the weary creature.

Why can't she pass? Do they live here?

“Why's that?” Questioned Moss, who reared her head back as a skeptical look etched into her fluffy face. “I didn't walk all this way to go back now, so you better give me a good reason!”

Kelpie, lowering itself deeper into the water, apologizes under its breath. Moss’s anger seems to instill dread into the poor Starlyng, their ears drooping further and their gaze lingering off to the side.

Whatever reply they were willing to give is stuttered out, before they finally submerged themselves entirely under the black depths of water. Moss steps back, her claws raking across the water as she glares downward. As time passes, a pregnant silence falls over the magical lake and the light fades, Moss begins to feel a wave of guilt wash over her. She takes this moment to realize they were attempting to watch out for her safety, yet she deliberately bared her anger and teeth.

…though, that silence wouldn't be for long.

As Moss turns around to begin walking off, her foot is suddenly caught on something! Her golden eyes widen in shock. This is the only moment she has to register what is happening as not even a  second later, she is gasping in shock, and her lungs are filled with water. Though it's hard to see within these dark waters, Moss can see white fur and green, bulging eyes. Horrified by the appearance of this monster, Moss kicks and claws at the beast, blindly attempting to free herself as she's dragged further down.

Once her claw hooks onto the flesh of the creature's face, it screams, causing the beast to release her. Moss twists herself, and begins to swim desperately toward the surface. After what feels like years, Moss finally surfaces! Her claws dig into the surface of the magical water, aiding her in her endeavor to pull herself out. With a wet splat, Moss manages to pull herself out, panting for the air that fills her burning lungs.

Quickly, she looks behind her, pulling herself further. She is met with a hungry, viscous gaze staring back at her.
