[TrickTreat : Gift] Reapers Creepers
“I simply do not get what all the fuss is about this holiday. What could be so fun about going door to door asking for candy?” Bartholomew sighs. There's a ruckus outside their library and the noise is making it hard for them to think, a pet peeve of theirs if you will.
“Calm down, you’re starting to sound like an old crow. What’s not to love about free candy?” Elio shoots back, throwing a handful of the nasty sugary stuff into his mouth. He savors the flavor all while challenging Owl with his eyes.
“Perhaps I do not like my teeth sticking together, or the sickeningly sweetness that all of those treats seem to have. There are better, more productive things to be doing. I do not know why you defend Reaper’s Revelry so, you didn’t even bother to wear a costume.” The Starlyng huffs before returning back to sorting books on the shelves.
“Hey now. I wore my costume already. I just took it off before I got here. Reaper’s Revelry is a sentimental holiday. I'm surprised YOU don’t enjoy it more, being a lorekeeper and all.” Elio lashed their tail, enjoying these kinds of teasing conversations they have together. “Besides, what could be more fun? And I don’t mean sorting books, that doesn't qualify as fun.”
“It would be enjoyable if it were more serious, somber even. And most certainly more quiet. It feels like there is an incessant bird in my head, creating a cacophony instead of a song.” Bartholomew stuck his snout up to the side, confident that his point was sufficiently defended. “Perhaps a more enjoyable experience would be quietly spending this day with you, enjoying the time we have together.” Owl brought his face back down to meet Elio’s eyes. They pierced right through him and the verdant Starlyng turned his face away with a blush.
“Shameless. Saying something like that right to my face. How do you want me to interpret it?” He snuck a glance back up at Owl who was still looking at him, no blush in sight on their muzzle.
“Well despite your sometimes aggravating nature, I surprisingly find your company enjoyable. I would not mind spending time getting to know you better. You do have a knack for finding me in my labyrinth already. Why not take advantage of it?” Bartholomew scooted closer, leaning their shoulder against Elio’s soft wings.
“Well, it is cold outside, perhaps this won’t be too bad.” The other conceded.
