FlutterpetalLilitulipa lancifolium

Angiosperms

Gold-striped flutterpetal or just gold-stripe or flutterpetal (Lilitulipa lancifolium, "Lily-tulip with lance-shaped leaves"; borrowed from the tiger lily and tulip design inspirations) is a pocket-sized flower that manages to thrive within the domes spread across Tartarus. It does not grow more than ~4"/10 cm tall, with ~2"/5 cm being the average. Chiefly, flutterpetal is a uniformly-sized, carpeting plant fond of medium-low pyrlight, although it can endure complete shade and survive outside of groups.

These stunning little beauties mimic the borderline-cryptid insects of Tartarus; gold-stripe in particular models itself after a recently-extinct species of butterfly, giving current denizens a glimpse of the past. Pollinators are the primary hypothesis for its choice of coloring, although its seeds appear to attract many other smaller species (such as birds). It possesses short, fragile roots, leaving it suspectable to uprooting or root exposure and other kinds of damage.

Regardless of its physical delicacy, the flutterpetal is well-known for its ability to survive without much water, light, or overall external care, making it popular amongst Umbla. Its resilience has also made it a symbol of the revolution; members will use it as a signal to each other, etc.
