Maw

In truth, the Maw is the "mouth" of a living, extraterrestrial being (a Veil-class Styx) that comprises the body and entire seafloor of the Endless Blue. It is indifferent to the world around it and its shifting body causes undersea earthquakes. The nature of its body means that is it virtually impossible to discern it for what it is; the terrain of the world, such as volcanoes, are able to form as they would on Earth. It has one child, Buyan, who will one day go on to become something just like it, although it is neither aware of this fact nor of the Maw and its creation from it. The intent of the being is unknown, but it is likely the reason life began to blossom in the Endless Blue when it did.
