Interstellar Wanderers

Guild

PLANNED FOR RELEASE LATE 2024

"Look to the stars and from them learn."

Interstellar Wanderers
, otherwise known as the Adventurers' Guild, is a Guild dedicated to exploring the Universe and fulfilling various kinds of requests. Wanderers (or Adventurers) are generally for-hire, and the services they offer can range from procuring certain materials to hunting or clearing out threats, with the difficulty and accessibility of quests being dependent upon a Wanderer's rank. For the most part, the Adventurers' Guild is a very casual setting; many fledgling Starlyngs will start off here and maintain an active membership concurrently with their primary Faction.

Registering with the Guild and obtaining a Pioneer's Permit is required to become a full-fledged Wanderer (and operate a spacecraft at all). However, any Starlyng can attain one without having to dedicate themselves to the Guild, and it is highly encouraged to do so prior to journeying the Universe (being able to bypass Preservation Points alone are great perks). The Pioneer's Permit is regularly paired with the Maker's Mark.

Though there is no one base for the Interstellar Wanderers (with many "bases" being interspersed across the stars), the Guild's inaugural ship, the Interstellar Space Station (ISS), is considered a "central hub" of sorts for them. Said vessel is by far their busiest site, in both seeing the complete flow of requests and being a focal location for registration.

While the Guild is lead by multiple leaders, its "leader of leaders" and founder is the Firstborn, Gilgamesh. Outside of the Order and within the Wanderers, Gilgamesh prefers to not be seen as an overarching authority, and outright dissuades other Guild figureheads from deferring to her (outside of grander, Guild-wide issues); in her mind, they are on an equal playing field. (Unfortunately, it is somewhat tough for many Starlyngs to separate Gilgamesh from his Firstborn status.)

VIEW EXTENDED DESCRIPTION

Accolades within the Guild are dependent upon the completion and quality of work, with higher ranks denoting a greater number of accomplishments. Upper ranks are typically allowed to take on riskier missions requiring advanced levels of expertise, often netting equitably better rewards. As such, Wanderers cannot climb the echelon without first passing gateway evaluations.

While every rank deals in the same matters (being more or less complex based on their tier), each position also has a specific "field" that they specialize in, and so many Wanderers may maintain their rank of interest despite having more than enough Renown to progress. Many Wanderers will also work alongside planetside Wardens from the Preservation

Upon graduating, all members receive a pin modeled after their rank names, starting with the Pioneer's Permit/Bronze Floret. All ranks were named by Gilgamesh's late partner, St. Enkidu

  • PLATINUM EFFLORESCENCE: The cream of the crop! These masterly Wanderers are very accomplished, with many Platinums being well-known leaders of a famed and established adventuring group, or Covey.  At this rank, Wanderers are authorized to start to their own branch Adventurers' Guilds, take on mentoring roles (to help Bronze Roots get on their own two feet), and issue Pioneer's Permit tests. Platinums may collaborate with members from other Factions (such as the the Fleet) when in need of a full crew for their spacecraft. Additionally, it is not uncommon for Platinums to receive offers on job placements within the ISS itself.

Platinum quests are diverse and as rewarding as they are challenging. However, due to the selectivity of Platinum-grade requests, the availability of worthwhile missions is fewer, thus fostering a degree of competition. It is all but expected for multiple Platinums to race to finish their quests, and a "first come, first served" philosophy is prevalent amongst Platinum Guildmembers. That being said, Platinum quests have a higher standard of completion, and so quality cannot be sacrificed for haste.

  • GOLD FLORET: Gold Forets are seasoned Adventurers with a respectable amount of acclaim. Many Golds solidify their Coveys at this rank, usually having either long since bonded with other Guildmembers, or finally having enough notoriety to successfully recruit a stable party (party members can be gathered from any rank). Rewards and assuredness of work at as Gold is overall rather comfortable, even in comparison to a Platinum.

This rank is dedicated to high-level hunting other kinds of physically rigorous work, such as assisting during and after the event of a natural disaster. As such, Gold Florets are the Adventurers most likely to cooperate with Wardens from the Preservation during planetside efforts.

  • SILVER SEEDLING: Silver Seedlings see an increase in compensation, as well as the quality of their requests. This rank is also very dedicated to fieldwork, frequently surveying lands and delving into things like ancient, booby-trapped ruins to conduct extensive research. These Starlyngs are also likely the ones collecting those rare, haven't-been-heard-of-outside-of-myth mushrooms some mysterious potion seller needs to make their magnum opus. Silver Seedlings may also begin to take on lower-intensity hunting quests and the like, with target difficulty increasing as they approach Gold Floret.

  • BRONZE ROOT: A healthy mix of Starlyngs new to Factions overall, true-blue, fledgling Adventurers, and Starlyngs who simply registered with the Guild to attain their Permit. This rank sees the crux of tedium across the Universe, but even lifting boxes or completing fetch quests can make a world go round! Since anyone can submit a quest to the the Guild (within reason), Bronze Roots often see the most "unfiltered" and inconsistent work, with rewards varying just as wildly. By and large, Bronze Root requests are very safe... and, at times, very boring. (Some Starlyngs surely enjoy this kind of moil, though!)
