Glimglow starberry or Evernight starberry (Asterbaccatanocturnae, "starberry of the night"), better known as just glowberry, is a variation of Hyperborean starberry that grows strictly around the East City, Austri.
Unlike other variants of starberry, glowberry emits blue light continuously, perhaps owed to never experiencing a regulated day-night cycle. Further, this radiance encapsulates its entire structure, rather than just the petals. However, comparatively-speaking, a glowberry is significantly less luminous than its relatives, resembling that of a "glimmering candle" instead (hence the moniker, deriving from both "glim" and "glimmer"). The berries of the plant are its most vibrant part, and next to all glowberries produce them; it's rare for them not to, once again atypical of their genus.
Since the Evernight, being both frigid and devoid of pyrshine, is inhospitable to most plantlife, their continued survival is rather mystifying. Even more mysteriously, to make up for a lack of pyrlight, glowberry appears to absorb artificial light instead. Thus, it grows plentifully around the artificially-lit East City, or more sparsely around the rare Giant settlement with a continuous, central pyre. Additionally, it seems to require the frigidity of the Evernight; attempts to plant it in areas of very low, natural pyrlight—such as near the equator—never succeeded. "Such strange little plants," is a commonly held, albeit affectionate, sentiment.
Glimglow starberry is very popular amongst denizens of the Austri, being both planted and used as decor throughout the city and used for their city's flag. Glowberry is particularly concentrated around the external perimeter of the city's walls (where it grows naturally), having been "discovered" there by Dwarves when they first ventured into the Evernight to settle. Giants had shared with them knowledge of a "strange structure surrounding by flowers" that "feels like Pyr" when asked for about "the ideal place" to live—and they were not wrong. This "strange structure" now lies at the heart of the East City and has powered it ever since.
