2024 COSMIC COOK-OFF EXTENDED

The Cosmic Cook-Off's end date has been extended until December 29th, 11:59 PM, PST! All information and requirements can be found on the Gallery page.

As a reminder, this is a contest-style event. The prizes include a guaranteed 300 Stardust, along with possible prizes of Traits and MYOs up to Mythical Rarity.

2024 WINTER SECRET STARLYNG Reminders

For those who applied to the 2024 Winter Secret Starlyng last month, we have a few critical due dates to remind you of!

  • SOFT DEADLINE: Users will be asked if a backup artist is needed if the piece is not submitted by December 13th, 11:59 PST. Please at least have a sketch completed by this date.

    • ⚠️ Asking for a backup artist will be considered dropping out of the event, and will bar you from the next Secret Starlyng. You may participate in the one after that, however! 

  • HARD DEADLINE: All designs must be fully completed and submitted by December 21st, 11:59 PM PST.

    • ⚠️ Failure to submit designs without asking for a backup artist will bar you from all future Secret Starlyngs. Please communicate any problems you encounter in advance.

  • Designs will be distributed in the afternoon or evening of December 28th. Keep your design(s) and partner a secret until then!

  • There will be a swaps and redesign period for Secret Starlyngs ending one week (January 4th, 11:59 PST) after the designs are fully distributed. Starlyngs designed for the event may be freely swapped for others if desired. (This will be mainly facilitated via our Discord server.)

SYSTEM OVERLOAD: new RESEARCH PROMPT, NEW SEASON & FESTIVE PROMPT, new site theme, IMAGE NOTE SEARCH, TEMPORARY ASSETS

NEW PROMPT: LOCATION FIELD RESEARCH PROMPT

The Field Research Prompt now allows for locations! Users can depict and describe a new or preexisting (that DOESN'T have any art yet) location that exists within the Starlyng Universe.

The requirements for Location Field Research differ from Flora and Fauna:

  • Must at least feature a simple, colored, and minimally shaded landscape of the location.

  • Image must be at least 300x200 pixels large with a 3:2 (rectangular) aspect ratio. Submissions should be no bigger than 2000x1333px and 72 dpi.

  • Additionally, must at least include a one-sentence long written description of the location free of grammatical errors.

    • These descriptions will possibly be expanded upon for their official location pages to reflect other entries on the site.

  • Do not submit variations of the same location with only slightly different features.

Artwork that has been accepted into the Field Research Prompt Gallery can be submitted to Location Field Research Prompt for 100 Stardust and 100 Sylver.

CHANGING SEASONS: DECEMBER-JANUARY FESTIVE PROMPT

It is now meteorological winter in the Northern Hemisphere! Ergo, the Seasonal Prompt will now accept winter/summer-related submissions, and new weather conditions will appear on the site for the Misc. Prompt's x1.2 Weather Bonus!

Also, as it is now December, there is now a returning Festive Prompt: the Bounty of Beginnings! It will last until the end of January.

DECEMBER-JANUARY FESTIVE PROMPT: BOUNTY OF BEGINNINGS

The start of a new year can be quite the occasion depending on where a Starlyng is in the Universe!

Depict or write about Starlyngs enjoying some New Year’s festivities.

Can be applied to any of your Misc. Prompts during December and January for a x1.2 bonus.

NEW SITE THEME: WINTER WONDERLAND

With the arrival of winter (for us, at least) comes a new site theme: Winter Wonderland! The banner was created by denpayo and the background was created lycoris. 

Users can try out the Winter Wonderland theme by going to their Settings and then scrolling down to the Theme section.

IMAGE NOTE SEARCH

We have introduced an tag-based system for the Image Note Search (Character Masterlist > Show Advanced Image Search Options > Image Note Search). This feature can be used to search for any CBC or media-inspired Starlyngs, and is based on a character's "IP Inspired" label (character/media credits). 

Our tagging system is as follows: NPC, CBC, Inspired, Media Name, Character Name, Event Source. Tags are located under a character's Notes tab. (Non-applicable tags are, of course, excluded.)

TEMPORARY SITE ASSETS

We finally replaced the placeholders on our home page (Account, Characters, Inventory, Bank, Awards) with new placeholders by alyeong! Aren't they adorable? Look forward to their completion!

LUCK OF THE DRAW: january STARDUST ADOPTABLES LOTTERY

This month, we have three cozy Stardust adoptable designs for prospective Userlyngs to purchase! They cost 500 Stardust each.

This frosty trio, themed after "Winter" was created by peeperonipip, MangoPotat, and Accalia! They can be purchased through their Sales page.

— ADOPT A "winter" DESIGN —

Continuing the trend, we're also hosting our December Stardust Adoptable lottery!

  • THREE users be chosen as winners.

  • The users who created the previous month's adoptables cannot be chosen again this month. If they are selected, they will be rerolled.

  • Artists that are repeatedly rolled for this position may also be rerolled.

  • Winners will be asked to EACH create ONE "Renewal and Rebirth"-themed Starlyng. (Think new year's festivities, time and clock theming, solar models and astronomical instruments [e.g., armillary spheres, astrolabes], etc.)

  • These adoptables can use any Common, Uncommon, and Rare Traits. The Star [L] Trait is also available for use.

  • Staff MYOs are provided to create these designs; selected artists do not need to spend their own Items.

  • These adoptables will be sold for 500 Stardust each. 

The deadline for these designs will be at the end of the month, with designers being picked on December 8th. Failure to complete a design will disqualify users from participating in the future.

NEW TRAIT CATEGORY: LEGS

For the purpose of better organization, we have added a new Trait category: Legs! 

This category is for any Trait that predominantly applies to a Starlyng's body from the legs down. While a Starlyng's legs typically sport featherless, anisodactyl feet, many modifications to this appearance can be made to better support a Starlyng's locomotion.

The following Traits have been resorted under the "Legs" umbrella: Polydactyl [C], Webbed Feet [C], Munchkin [UC], Snowshoes [UC], Zygodactyl [UC], Digits [L], Paws [M], and Satyr [M].
