I was asked to step in for Ansible this month, since he is, and I quote, "quite frankly, bored to tears". I understand. Iso get it. You wouldn't expect a Lyng like me to have as much downtime as I do, but I actually have quite a lot of it, and no one ever wants to play with me. It getsso lonely and so, so boring. Despite having as many admirers as there are are stars, no one wants to spend any time with me. I'm not so complex, you know? I just want some attention sometimes. Am I asking for too much? I don't think I'm asking for too much.

Anyway, I'm being told that the news isn't the place to mourn my social life, so I guess I'll just have to suck it up. Heh. I'm pretty strong, you know? I can take it.

...What's with that look? Surely, you've received an invitation to the 2024 Fashion Freakfest by now? Really? Just me? You must not be a true fashion freak, th--What do you mean, "it's not called that"? But in my letter, it said...

...This month, the cosmopolitan couturier Yvin is hosting a fashion contest for designers across the stars! Join in the 2024 Fashion Frenzy and show off your literal cutting-edge skills to win prizes and glory! Beware, though: in this tailor-made tournament, there are no lifelines, only clotheslines!

Interested? Then let me share this year's premise: designing Gearsets for (visible) Guilds and Troupes. This means brushing up on their information, and being mindful of it during your creation process. Furthermore, several guidelines must be adhered to, which are detailed in the next section. Of course, you're very welcome to consult the experts in our Discord server's #event-chat!

The 2024 Fashion Frenzy will last from May 1, 2024 to May 29, 2024, with winners being announced in June's newsletter! Don't be fashionably late, now!

FASHION FRENZY GUIDELINES: 

• Contestants are to design a three-piece Gearset for any of the (visible) Guilds and Troupes. This means none of the Covenants and neither the Archivists' Association nor the Symphony of the Stars (the latter two lack descriptions). 
  

THE FOLLOWING GUILDS CAN BE DESIGNED FOR:

    • Fellowship of the Trade
      
      

    • Fleet of the First Light
      

THE FOLLOWING TROUPES CAN BE DESIGNED FOR:

• • • Cirque du Cosmos
      
      
    • Masked by Moonlight
      
      
• Gearsets are to distinctly reflect their respective Faction's lore. Contestants may seek further counsel or insight via the Discord server #event-chat. 
  
  
• Each reference must include three discrete pieces of Gear and be made using our mannequin base. Gearset pieces do not necessarily need to follow the example provided below and can involve things like gloves and boots as one their own pieces. A "discrete piece" just need to be substantial enough to warrant obtaining as Gear. 
  
  
• The mannequin base may be relined to fit the artist's style better or used as-is. Ears, horns, tails, and feathers can be added to the mannequin and the coloring on the mannequin itself should remain one flat color.
  
  
• Each piece of Gear must be on a separate layer, lined, and colored. Please make sure to arrange your references on the canvas like the example provided below.
  
  
• Submit your Gearset to the Fashion Frenzy Gallery. Submissions should be no bigger than 2000x2000px and 72 dpi. (The original canvas size can be anything; it just needs to be resized for the Gallery.)
  
  
• When submitting your piece to the Fashion Frenzy Gallery, you may also submit the Fashion Frenzy Prompt for 250 Stardust. (You may submit your Gallery piece and the Prompt same time; you just need the Gallery link for the Prompt.) You can do this per completed Gearset. Please link to your Gallery submission in the "Submission URL" field when filling out the Prompt. 
  
  
• All designs may be used in some way for Gearsets on our website, either directly or referenced in official materials. By submitting your designs to the Fashion Frenzy Gallery, you will be consenting to their usage in this manner.
  
  
• Please maintain a .PSD file of your Gearset(s) in the event that we do officially add them to our roster! We'll be contacting you for it.
  
  
• Contestants can design and submit as many Gearsets as they please, so long as they abide the rules. Prizes can likewise be won more than once, from within and across tiers!
  
  
• The 2024 Fashion Frenzy will last from May 1, 2024 to May 29, 2024, with winners being announced in June's newsletter!

FASHION CONTEST PRIZES: 

• PARTICIPATION PRIZE: All contestants who properly submit their Gearset(s) to the Fashion Frenzy Gallery and fill out the Fashion Frenzy Prompt will receive 250 Stardust per Gearset. 
  
  
• TIER 2 PRIZE: Tier 2 winners will receive a Rare MYO and their choice of any one Legendary Trait. Their ideas will be repurposed for a new reference. 
  
  
• TIER 1 PRIZE: Tier 1 winners will receive a Mythical MYO. Their works will be directly used on our website.

Ding ding ding, order up! Got a very special egg for you, with a side of Rainy Road! This new theme has a beautiful banner courtesy of ryvin, and bombastic background divined by yours truly. One might even say our partnership was... written in the stars.

LUCK OF THE DRAW: JUNE STARDUST ADOPTABLES LOTTERY

This month, we have three spectacular Stardust adoptable designs for interested Userlyngs to purchase! They cost 500 Stardust each.

This trio, brought into being by Solyxus, luri_exe, and Fallen respectively, is themed after "May Flowers" (in our case, all flowers) to follow up last month's "April Showers" set! They can be purchased through their Sales page. 

— ADOPT A "MAY FLOWERS" DESIGN —

Continuing the trend, we're also hosting our June Stardust Adoptable lottery! Like usual, this lottery will end in one week on May 8th.

• THREE users will be chosen as winners.
  
  
• Winners will be asked to EACH create ONE "Along the Shoreline"-themed Starlyng. (Think seashells, coastal critters, fishing, beachside leisure, etc.)
  
  
• These adoptables can use any Common, Uncommon, and Rare Traits. The Bubble [L] Trait is also available for use. 
  
  
• Staff MYOs are provided to create these designs; selected artists do not need to spend their own Items.
  
  
• These adoptables will be sold for 500 Stardust each.

The deadline for these designs will be at the end of the month. Failure to complete a design will disqualify users from participating in the future.

The Road Ahead: FACING THE FACTS...IONS

Well, here's the part where we get down on our hands and knees and beg for your forgiveness. Coveted Covenant Gearsets and Questlines are, sad to say, being delayed again. There are many cogs in the not-so-well-oiled Faction machine, and it's especially tough to align them all around this time of year. Optimistically-speaking, the (still tentative) projected release for everthing is now June. We deeply apologize.

As it stands, we're working on the remaining Covenant Gearsets, NPC references, and updating the website to support an extension that'd allow for equipping Gear. We're also lost in the torture labyrinth  known as Writing Questlines; some help would genuinely change the trajectory of our lives forever! If you're a bighearted Authorlyng with a penchant for prose, head on over to our Permanent Resource Application and save us!
